From around the Pacific region we have a tribute to Anne Luior, National Women’s Interest Officer for FSM, who lost her battle with breast cancer in December 2000; a report on marine conservation and tourism development for the Marshall Islands; the crab fisherwomen of New Caledonia; and fisheries training for Pacific Island women in New Zealand. The news from outside the region includes an interview with the female president of a fisherman’s cooperative in Brazil; a workshop on gender and coastal fishing communities in Latin America; and former fighters turning to a more peaceful life of seaweed farming in Mindanao, Philippines.
