This paper focuses on economic analysis---for instance, on institutions and policies which contributed to increasing employment, and on the inadequacies of the neoliberal model, I would be remiss if I failed to note that what is at stake is not just models 23 See Stiglitz [1997] 24 The nature of these risks depends, of course, on underlying structural relationships.
