Abstract

In March, SPC Fisheries Development Officer, Steve Beverly participated in the first Regional Policy Meeting on Coastal Fisheries Management, where he made a presentation outlining SPC’s Fisheries Development Section’s role in coastal fisheries management — past, present and future. Steve summarised all of the name changes the section has gone through in the last three decades and how they reflect the change in coastal fisheries development, mainly as a result of the changing requirements and priorities of member countries and territories.
