Abstract

Bazaruto Archipelago was established as a national park in 1971. It is a unique marine park in Mozambique with 156 km2 and 3500 inhabitants. The main economic activities of the islanders include fishing (70%), carpentry for fishing and passenger boats, agriculture and common animal production. The latter is an important supplement to agriculture especially during drought.
