Abstract

This paper looks at and area on the East coast of Trinidad- the Cocal area, its erosion status, vulnerable resources within that area and the possible impacts that four scenarios of sea level rise will have on a portion of the East coast in Trinidad. It makes use of Geographic Information Systems, more specifically the programme Arc View; so as to determine how far inland the sea will go and what land uses will be affected. In doing so, a holistic approach was taken so as to formulate ways in which the effects of the rising sea and coastal erosion can be dealt with.
