Abstract

Cage aquaculture, though relatively new to the inland aquaculture scenario of India, brings in new opportunities for optimizing fish production from reservoirs and lakes, and also developing new skills among fishers and entrepreneurs to enhance their earnings. Generally perceived as a boon for increasing production, this mode of production can as well turn out to be a harbinger of doom, if allowed to grow unchecked.
