Abstract
Peru’s multi-species, highly diverse artisanal fisheries make a strategically important contribution to the nation’s food security, having traditionally provided fish for local consumption. However, the sector is dwarfed by the industrial fishery, dominated by fleets which mainly target a single species—the Peruvian anchoveta—for fishmeal production.
