Abstract

This report by the Malabo Montpellier Panel focuses on how the growth and sustainability of Africa’s fisheries and aquaculture sector may be enhanced. The report reviews the sector’s continental and global policy frameworks, as well as sectoral policy and strategy priorities in Africa. The report also provides case studies for systematically selected countries that have shown the most success and progress in growing their fisheries and aquaculture. Each case study reviews the institutional and policy innovations and programmatic interventions that contribute to creating a conducive environment for the sustainable development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector and the transformation of aquatic food systems.
