Ocean warming and acidification propagate to the structure and functioning of marine ecosystems, from the performance of individual organisms to the composition of marine communities, threatening the sustained provision of important ecosystem services such as food provisioning. We provide an overview of the main impacts of climate change on marine fishes across levels of biological organization. We review physiological and behavioral responses at the individual level and how these impacts propagate to the dynamics and distribution of marine populations and species. We also discuss how climate change is altering the structure and composition of marine fish communities, with emphasis on projected impacts on energy and material fluxes in marine food webs. We highlight how these changes might compromise the provision of ecosystem goods and services in the future, suggesting strategies to monitor, adapt, and anticipate the effect of changing conditions on marine fishes. We identify knowledge gaps that should be tackled to solve pressing issues in marine fish science.
