Abstract

The document, Brazil - Piaui rural development project fisheries component - 1981, presents a pragmatic framework for rural economic upliftment that resonates deeply with the tenets of human-centered development. Beyond the measurable targets of increasing fish production to 6,000 tons and achieving a remarkable 35% economic rate of return, this initiative fundamentally addresses the human right to a dignified livelihood and stable nutrition for artisanal fishermen. The project’s emphasis on strengthening cooperative capacities and implementing adaptive monitoring is an act of consciousness—recognizing that true sustainability requires the integration of material improvements with the empowerment and spiritual self-realization of the community, ensuring local economies are both robust and ethically grounded.
