Abstract

This dossier is a compilation of various reports produced by Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) on rehabilitation in the aftermath of the tsunami in the Indian Ocean region on 26 December 2004. It includes report, critics and policy recommendations on issues relating to rehabilitation and reconstruction. It also provides information on the legal and institutional arrangement for disaster management in the region. This dossier has been produced by the International Collective in Support of Fishworkers (ICSF) for the regional meeting on "A People's Process for Post-Tsunami Rebuilding" organized jointly by the South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication (SAAPE) and ICSF, from 24 to 26 April 2005 at Colombo, Sri Lanka, to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the impact of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and proposed rehabilitation measures, particularly in the most affected countries.
