The estuarine bagnet fishery of Bangladesh is one of the country's most important traditional fisheries and a large population of small-scale fisherfolk have been dependent on it for a long time. This study looks in to the biosocioeconomic issues of this gear. This documents the fisheries, fishing areas, effort and production, production trends, size selectivity, growth parameters, recruitment pattern and spawning seasons, sociological characteristics of the fisherfolk using this gear and the economic activities in the fishing villages using this gear along with few suggestions for the fisherfolk using this gear.
