This book provides information on the establishment of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC).The need to establish a management body for Indian Ocean Tuna was identified in the late 1960's and the process to realize this objective began in earnest in 1986 and ended with the adoption of the agreement for establishment of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission by the FAO Council in 1993. This book discusses the conservation and management of tuna and the evolution of the agreement.
