Abstract

The aim of this policy brief is to a) analyse trends in thinking and practice on finance for poverty reduction, b) examine how small scale fisherfolk use financial services, c) identify the main issues and challenges in providing microfinance to the fishing communities and d) outline recommendations to improve the availability of suitable financial services in small-scale fisheries.
