Abstract
This article discusses how the regulation directly and indirectly discriminates against women, despite the official ideology of gender equality in society. The logic of the fisheries management system follows and privileges a masculine fishing pattern and thus can be characterized as a patriarchal construction. An issue to raise is whether a woman friendly management system frustrates the aim of sustainable management.
