The analyses shows an alarming decline in coastal fishery resources. The larger and more valuable fish have decreased sharply and there has been a propotionate increase in smaller and less valuable species. The main goals of fisheries management suggested is the sustainable utilisation of coastal fishery resources with environmental, socio-economic and institutional objectives. Further the south-east Asian countries must commit to continuous, long term capacity-building and institutional strengthening.
