This study is carried out about the coping strategies of fisherwomen around the Begnas Lake. Despite the hardships in their livelihood they cope with double workburden to overcome the terrible situation. They work as domestic household workers but it is not considered work. According to traditional and cultural beliefs men are not allowed to do the household works so the women have to do it besides productive work in fisheries as setting the nets in the lake, mending nets and marketing of fish. Despite the challenges faced, the fisherwomen now empower themselves by forming the group which is very effectively controlling indiscriminate use of killing fishes which is very important in protecting the environment as well as sustainability of the natural resources as they are fully dependent on natural resources. They are now participating in adult literacy programmes as well as aware of sanitation and good and nutritious food intake also.
