Abstract
In Kesla block of Hoshangabad District in Madhya Pradesh, the adivasis (indigenous forest and tribal people) have constantly faced displacement and consequent deprivation of their resource base. The last 15 - 20 years have seen tribal struggles seeking resettlement and resolution of other issues relating to land, water and forest rights. Around five years ago, they got their first taste of success in the form of fishing and marketing rights in the reservoir of dam at Tawa, which is a tributary of the Narmada river.
