The process of implementing the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication in collaboration between the Sri Lanka Forum for Small Scale Fisheries (SLFSSF) and the International Collective in Support of Fishworkers (ICSF) was a combined effort of an array of individuals and institutions, including the government. The whole process of SSF Guidelines implementation was conducted to the fullest satisfaction of the SLFSSF due to the very successful deliberations that were held in various parts of the country, with the active involvement of fishing communities, including women fisher folk and State actors representing an array of institutions, including departments of fisheries, agriculture, coastal conservation, wildlife, forestry, environment, the Coast Guard and others.
